Following a constructive period of negotiation I am pleased to announce that on the 26th February an agreement was signed completing the acquisition of Burden Bros Agri Ltd by P Tuckwell Ltd. This agreement is for the acquisition of the entire business, with all employees transferring and the three existing branch locations at Stockbury and Ivychurch in Kent and Framfield in East Sussex being retained.
I can confirm that this acquisition has the full support and approval of John Deere Ltd and would also reiterate that this does not involve any other businesses in the BB⁴ Group of Companies, which will remain and continue to trade as they do today.
Tuckwells was established in 1954 by my grandfather, Len, and we have been John Deere dealers since 1965. We operate from seven locations across the East of England and we employ over 200 people. In addition, we also run Tuckwell Farms, a 1500 acre working farm in Suffolk. We were one of the first dealers in the UK to take on the John Deere franchise and one of the first to move into Turf machinery in 1986, an area which has subsequently grown into a major part of our business.
This acquisition brings together two well respected, neighbouring John Deere dealerships, both of which are family businesses. We share similar values and a culture of proactively supporting our customers and encouraging the continual development and progression of our team.
There have been a number of changes within the John Deere dealer network in Kent and East Sussex over the past 10 years and the combined dealership will bring stability and investment to the area. It will have the required resources and skills needed to meet the changing needs of our customers as well as the ability to invest in the rapid advances in technology within our sector.
We are excited to have the opportunity to be expanding our business and to build on the strong foundations that Dale Burden and his team have built since the company began in 2007. I am also delighted to welcome the Burden Bros Agri team to the Tuckwell family and look forward to working with them, striving to deliver an outstanding customer experience to you all.
Please be assured that there will be no interruption to your on-going sales, service and parts support. All existing services, including maintenance contracts and warranty cover will continue as they are.
